To be goth, you have to get an erection over the colour black durrrrr....just joking...i don't really agree with anyone...we are who we are...we listen to what we want, as individual humans, i don't think there is the full "goth" just like there is no absolute reality, because i listen to the banshees, alien sex feind...then i listen to wumpscut and VNV natio...then i listen to Sweet and johnny cash...i dress goth, yeah, but not all the time...sometimes i don't wear anything at all =D that or track pants...so it's not about the fashion...it's not about the feelings..which leaves one thing...the music...since i listen to the music Dj listed, i must be goth.
please note, i was tired when i wrote this, so if it dfoesnt ,ake sense, fuck you. |

| I think of goth as a stereotype, that people have a hard time living up to. I'm not seriously goth, more of a scene type of thing. but goth, is like a culture that can send you away from what you are or bring you together like a family (hint hint MGH, thanks Ger :]) but to tell you the truth, before I found out about MGH I had no clue who I really was. |

| i dunno, goth just is what it is, it was kinda weird, one day this chick asked me "are you goth?" and i was like, erm, im not really anything... but i remembered being asked the same question a handfull of times recent to that so i was like o crap... maybe i am... i dunno, luv the crow great movie, great soundtrack, i wear pretty much all black.. i smoke clove cigarettes... i love type o negative... sheeet i am goth ! but i guess im a little bit of a few things, im kinda thuggish, kinda rockerish, kinda goth, kinda punk, i mean i luv hendrix as much as i do peter steel, but i guess its just a lifestyle, i hear so many people trying to be goth, the other day on myyearbook i noticed a post from some chick saying "my friends say i cant turn goth but i think i can, what do you think" i was like w+f you cant turn somethin your not naturally or else your just a poser, ya are what ya are, and should be comfortable with who ya are, even if the grass seems greener, or cooler, or whatever, anyway, goth to me is just a lifestyle i guess, or a predisposition to a type of lifestyle |

"Being a Goth" is basicly impossible; Gothic is an underground post-punk music scene brought with dark music and mostly depressed lyrics.
You can wear what you want and listen to any kind of music you like.
The people who are claimed to be "Goth", are people that mostly dress in Black and listen to Death-and Black-Metal and therefor are hardly the ones to be called "Goth".
However the Gothic Scene has evolved numberous times and now include some types of Metal, Trance, Industrial, Rock, and off course where it all started; Punk-Rock.... the music with this 'new Goth scene' still has the same qualities though.... dark music depressed or highly sarcastic lyrics.
I only wear black for my own personal reasons; not 'cause I 'want' to be Goth. I listen to "Gothic" music but to "regular" Rock, Metal, Country, and sometimes even Pop aswell....
but most of all I'm always willingly pulled back to the Goth-scene. |

Actually that is wrong the Goth scene doesn't include Metal. It includes Goth, Batcave, Deathrock and a rare few Dark Wave bands.
And that most Goth lyrics is "depressing" is bullshit. You're thinking of the boring so called Gothic Metal which has nothing in common with Goth "musical wise or clothing wise" except for the annoying wannabe vampires aka Victorian dress code. |

| 2 me goth is a group of ppl who regularly thnk deeply, and often darkly. in my opinion, tht is the main core of "goth" the other stuff lk the music and the way they dress is just accessories most of us follow by anyway. of course, ever goth is different and thinks, likes and feels differently. if thats not goth, maybe im not goth but i am dark, and a deep thnker, w/e u want 2 call tht idc i am what i am. |

Goth is a way of life for people, who love dark clothes and music. Here in germany we have a great community!!
It is always fun to go to an festival! |

Well, I guess being Goth has more to do with the individual than what other people think.
Unless, those people are your true, close friends.
It's more to do with who you are inside than the asthetics outside.
Clothing helps people identify you, but only to an extent.
In the end, it's really up to yourself, and those few people who know you really well, to decide whether you're goth or not.
I mean, I know from personal experience that my few close friends think I'm Goth, and I think so to. But I thought I was Goth way before they did. |

A Goth is a person that likes and listens to Gothique Punk everything else is personal opinions and doesn't make you more or less Goth and shall not be considered to be "Goth thoughts" or some other bullshit.
If you listens to: Nightwish, Manson, HIM, 69 Eyes and so on but no Gothband then you ain't Goth.. simple. |
